Students who pursue higher education seeking the tools
to improve their own lives or the lives of others should be afforded the
opportunities to learn in both formal and informal education settings.
Whether in a lecture hall, small group, or on-line, learning is encouraged
and thrives in environments where education is valued and strived for. As an
educator, it is my responsibility to offer my knowledge, guidance, and
wisdom. Presenting information is not enough. Teaching means creatively
conveying information and guiding students to comprehend, analyze, and
utilize the information. In order to be a good facilitator of learning, the
teacher must also consider the student's contributions to be of utmost
importance. Students bring a variety of experiences, questions, and opinions
that enrich the learning experience for peers and instructors alike.
Education should be available, beneficial, and enjoyable for all involved.
